Equipment

  • A tall glass
  • A muddler (or a wooden spoon if you're in a pinch)
  • A cocktail shaker (time to show off those bartending skills!)
  • A strainer (no one likes a mouthful of mint)
  • A stirring spoon (for that final flourish)

Ingredients

  • 6-10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 lime cut into 4 wedges
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/2 oz white rum
  • 1/2 cup club soda

Instructions

  • Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge in a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice.
  • Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, then muddle again.
  • Fill the glass with ice, pour in the rum, and fill with club soda. Stir well.
  • Garnish with the remaining lime wedge and a sprig of mint.
