Equipment

  • Blender: A good quality blender will ensure the blue spirulina powder is fully incorporated and the smoothie has a smooth, creamy texture.
  • Measuring Spoons and Cups
  • Serving Glass (preferably clear to show off the color!)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 -1 tsp blue spirulina powder
  • 1 small frozen banana or 1/2 large
  • 1/2 -1 cup light-colored frozen fruit e.g., pineapple, mango
  • 1 cup light-colored liquid e.g., coconut water, almond milk, water

Optional:

  • Squeeze of lime/lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract sweetener to taste (agave, light honey),
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds.

Instructions

  • Add liquid to the blender first.
  • Add blue spirulina powder and any other soft/powdered ingredients.
  • Add frozen banana and other frozen fruits.
  • Blend on high speed until completely smooth, creamy, and vibrantly blue (30-60 seconds).
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or consistency (add more liquid if too thick, more frozen fruit if too thin).
  • Pour into a clear glass and serve immediately.

Notes

Tips for Success:
  • Use light-colored fruits (banana, pineapple, mango) to maintain a bright blue color.
  • Frozen fruit creates the best creamy, cold texture.
  • Start with 1/2 tsp of blue spirulina and add more for a deeper hue if desired.
  • Blend thoroughly for a smooth consistency.
Serving Suggestions:
Garnish with shredded coconut, banana slices, or a sprinkle of chia seeds.
Perfect for a healthy breakfast, an energizing snack, or a fun, colorful treat.
